Organization in Documentary Editing

  • In Premiere you can use markers and color code it.

  • In the metadata function you can filter out the colors. This is with the brand new update.

  • When you do interviews code and mark to take notes. So it doesn’t pile up

  • Another thing to think about is “busted” takes. You never know if you can use it down the line.

Sequences

  • Separate Sequences to auto-generated markers or you can self create markers.

  • A plugin you can use for help is called Transcriptive.

  • If you organize your timelines by a subject then you can go back to those soundbites later

Transcripts and Collaboration

  • Plan and budget time to create transcripts

  • Use ASR - Automatic Speech Recognition

  • Find key words without reviewing footage

  • Adobe Transcription, Rev, Transcriptive.com, DigitalAnarchy.com, simonsays.ai, descript.com,
