Trusting the Content We See

Scott Lowenstein NTY Emerging Tech Research and Development Strategist, Judy Parnall Head of Standards BBC, and Andy Parsons Senior Director at Adobe for Content Authenticity Initiative talk about content in a fake news era.

Accuracy in News and Reputation

  • Parnall gives an example of how people take hours to double check the authenticity of content from photos to videos on the origin that’s put in their articles.

  • Parsons talks from the Adobe stand point where technology is advanced to the point where someone can tamper with images or video content. The technology data has a chain journey of where content has traveled in order of different people.

Privacy

  • Provenance is a company that helps clarify a trust in a brand or article.

In the Future

  • Parnall hopes to see a future where content is known for its trustworthiness. Such as the lock box in the upper right hand corner of the website.

  • Lowenstein hopes all people start using this new technology. For example people to use this on social media, broader in global companies and journalists when creating their articles on various sites.
