Rebekah Skelly: An Interview

Rebekah is a wonderful, creative soul of a woman and I'm so excited to finally talk to her about her latest fashion endeavors. Her work in the fashion industry has merged with her love of exciting and loud dance music and all the things happiness and rainbows are made with.

You can find her fashion's on her Etsy  and you can follow her on Instagram too!

Who are you and what do you do?

My name is Rebekah and right now I am in the midst of launching my own fashion line! My sequin kimono is the first design I am getting produced at a proper factory.

What inspired the design?

My sequin kimono is the focus of my design energy right now. I was inspired by my experience at Electric Daisy Carnival last year- everyone was wearing glitter and sequins, but the energy was out of this world. I wanted to design something that captured that feeling of freedom, energy, and fun.

What do you have planned for future designs?

I have so much in mind! I am really loving all the unique sequin fabrics that are being developed right now, so I am focused on creating outerwear pieces with those - kimonos and jackets mostly.

What do you love about the fabric you chose?

I like tactile fabrics that have a cool texture and really capture the eye. The "eyelash" sequin I used in my kimono hem is really unique and the colors really change depending on the lighting of the room.

Why do you love designing and creating clothes?

Making people feel good about themselves is the ultimate goal. Nothing makes me happier then when someone tries on my design and does a twirl and I can tell they feel beautiful!

Fun questions

if you were stuck on an abandoned island what five items would you want with you?

Hmm...a notebook, a pencils, sunscreen, matches, and a sewing needle!

If you could meet any fashion icon who would it be?

I think Alexander McQueen was a genius, I would of loved to talk to him about his process and inspirations.
