Joshua Breidenbach and Chi-An De Leo created a studio in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam called Rice Creative. They bring together local talent, but also designers from around the world. Rice Creative projects are innovative and inspiring. Their global intersection is a cosmopolitan look at design and how culture is evolving. At HowDesign Live they had a session about seeking the unexpected. Breidenbach an ex-pat from Ohio and De Leo from many cultures around the world came back to his Vietnamese roots and forged into the world of creating their own studio.
The session was about working with meaning and creating a duality that stems from the collision that creates the uncommon results. They believe research is an integral part of the design. It's why there research takes them all over the south pacific, into jungles and far off places that can only be accessed by foot or small motor bikes.
